We believe that every child possesses the ability to build, create, and imagine. Tegu blocks are a canvas for their imagination. No instruction manuals or electronics, just toys that inspire limitless creativity across all ages.
We don’t see a difference between learning and playing. In fact, we believe that when a child plays their minds are opened to learn in new and exciting ways. So exciting, they don’t even know they are doing it!
With help from some forward thinking preschools and kindergartens in Silicon Valley, Tegu Blocks came to life in a most natural environment – children's hands. Ideas were tested, prototypes were made, and true play was observed. And, after rapid iteration, Tegu Blocks soon became what all our builders today know and love. Since then, we have gone beyond the classroom to play rooms, bed rooms, restaurants, airplanes, and anywhere imaginations have flown.
When Chris & Will Haughey started Tegu, they asked this question: “Could we create a for-profit company based in Honduras that would foster a positive social impact through its business?” And that’s just what we’re doing. We established our fully independent toy factory outside Tegucigalpa to make a statement: we’re in Honduras by choice and we’re here to stay.
By paying our employees a living wage and prioritizing long-term career growth and development rather than simple task-based jobs, Tegu is bringing world-class employment standards to Central America.
When harvested responsibly, wood is the most sustainable material available. That's why we work with local Honduran cooperatives who individually hand pick each mature tree for use.
We design our blocks with purpose with the goal of creating the best building system out there.
